[RESOLVED] [XP] Computer is very slow
My daughters computer is running very slow. I have done a defragmentation, run a disc scan to check for errors and run AdAware. We have an antivirus program and firewall installed.
Computer information
Compaq Presario
Intel (R)
Celeron (R)
CPU 2.53 GHz
248 MB RAM
Windows XP Home Edition
ver 2002
srevice pack 2

In the Task Manager>Processes tab make sure that CPU & CPU Time columns are selected (View>Select Columns). Click twice on the CPU column header and that will put the process that is using the most CPU cycles at the top. Ignore System Idle Process, a high value for that is a good thing. Post back what process(es) is/are using the CPU cycles.

That 248 MB Ram is extremely low for WinXP Home--should have at least 512 MB and 1 Gig would be better.
