Having trouble writing files to CD. After writing, files will not load.

    Using XP.
Downloaded a printer driver to the desktop. Rt clicked on files and sent files to D drive. Clicked on the button that says write these files to CD. Files were written and CD ejected.

Took the CD to another computer and files on CD would not load. Stopped at 10%.

Went back to the first computer. If I try to load from the CD, files will not load. If I try to load from the desktop icon, files will load. That tells me that there is something wrong with the writing process.

Is there something that I need to do with the first computer so that it will write files to a CD which can then be loaded from the CD?

    Lightbulb Settings?

Open my computer, right click on the CD drive, select proerties, select the recording tab.

Change settings from fastest to 8X or 4X or 2X.

Try to burn your disk again.

If the second computer has XP you should not have problems.

Win 98 and others cant read the disks.
Roxio has freeware that will let the other OS read the disks.

    This is a fullow-up.
Used Nero6 to burn the driver to a CD. Then, when I tried to load from the CD burned by nero, got a message that that the file was read-only. Tried to move the file to the desktop and got a message that said that access was denied.

    Smile ;-)

All files on CD's are read only.

Instead of moving the file try copying the file.

You should be able to keep the CD in the drive and use the Hardware manager to find the drivers on the CD.

XP has most printer drivers built into the OS.

Have you tried to add the printer.

Connect the printer, turn it on.

    Open the control panel

    Select printers and faxes

    Select add a printer

    Local printer

It will find it and install the drivers

    Resolved

Resolved my problem, just in case anyone else has a similar problem.

After writing files to CD, using IE, rather than trying to load from the CD, I was able to get the files to load by by first moving the files from the CD to the desktop and then loading from the desktop, rather than loading from the CD. I do not know why it works, but it does.
