    Network problem

Can some one please tell me why my shared file & folders are showing up as being on the internet on my new xp machine & not showing up in my network places. I'm running WinXP on both machines & can see the files on my new machine if I click on computers on my network but it also takes like 2 mins for my new machine to find & open them. I'm stumped. I have run setup wizard on both machines at least 6 times..

On my new machine when you open network places it shows only generic thumbnails of the files & folders that won't open at all. If I click on show computers on my network & then click the computer with the files I want to look at, after about a 1 to 2 mins the folders will come up & I can open them but it is still very slow when I change from one folder to another.. That page has Network places & internet on it & the files are showing as being on the internet when they should be listed under network places.

I have a wired network with two machines on a four port router.. I can go on line with both machines just fine. I just can't get the sharing worked out to work right. Before I had a win98se machine on the same port & line & it worked just fine after I changed the IRPStackSize in the Reg on the machine I was trying to get the files & folders from. I have a feeling it's something very simple that I'm missing.. Thanks..
    What me worry

Try search / computers and see if it finds the other computer.

Normally that will popular the network places.
