Firewall That Works With 98\ME
Are there any recommended firewalls, preferrably free, that work with Windows 98 / ME?
Thanks,

Hi Jody,
I have been using Zone Alarm Free version on my W98SE for many years, with no problems. As for the ME aspect I don't know, but have not seen any complaints from ME users about ZoneAlarm.

Well the ZoneAlarm Free states that it requires Win NT/2K/XP/2003. Are you saying that you still use it under W98SE without any problems?

Yes that is what I'm saying. I've had ZA on my W98SE for over 4 years.
I think they (ZA) dropped the 98 support when MS did, but it's been working quite well with my desktop. I use ZA version 6.1.744.001

The latest free ZoneAlarm my old 98SE runs well on is 4.5.594.000. It's still available from Zone Labs at http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/fre...seHistory.html The actual download link is http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/fre...45_594_000.exe
I still read here and there that this last 4.5 build was the best version Zone Labs ever released. And I tend to agree...
