    logon problems with XP home

Sometimes when we go to logon to mine or husbands user account we can click on our names but the curser doesn't show up for us to put in our passwords. Our son also has a user account with no password so I have to logon to his name then log off to switch user and the curser is there. Any ideas? All scans were done for virus's and spyware. Thanks

Guessing you're using a USB keyboard?
If you wait a minute of two does the cursor show up?
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

When the cursor does not appear,
Is the HDD activity indicator on the chassis blinking away like mad?
    IF so,
Then the system is still busy loading up the OS and related...
Above situation typically caused by systems with insufficient memory and/or HDD with data/program crammed into it.
    Cheers.

    No it isn't.

Have plenty of ram with 512 and plenty of space avail on hard drive with over 60% avail.

    For power users,
Would not consider 512 MB, plenty, for Windows.
    With that said,
    Areas to look at,
Event Viewer for any unusual activities logged.
Run Check disk for any irregularities,
Run a thorough scan with a decent and up to date Antivirus.
    eg. Kaspersky, NOD32, F-Secure...
    Cheers.
