Can browse network but no interne
We've got a wireless laptop that doesn't seem to have internet access. It can browse our network and it can do "tracert"s to internet sites. So obviously it's getting DNS resolution. However when trying to bring up any web site it just times out.
Any ideas?
TIA

So, you have other machines that are working fine?
Have you compared the TCP Stack on the rogue laptop to one of the working machines? (meaning, is the laptop DHCP, does it have the same default gateway, etc)
The only barrier to knowledge is the perception that you already have it.

All the machines have staticly set IP's and DNS servers. I've just discovered that whatever website I try to go to with IE the DNS resolves to 206.182.229.152 which times out. It times out on my other machine also.

Try changing your DNS servers to 4.2.2.2
Also, try going to a website by IP, such as cnn: http://64.236.29.120/
The only barrier to knowledge is the perception that you already have it.

Tropical, I tried Hijackthis on the machine and found 2 entries targeting the IP addy I mentioned. Deleted both of those, rebooted, and it's fixed.
Charged the guy a sixer of EKU 28.
