Opera Tabs
A link you'd like to follow in a new window, you can middle-click on it. The link will be opened in a new tab window which will become active (foreground). Well, this feature just stopped working, uninstalled Opera and reinstalled it several times, no change. Is there a setting that make this useful feature work again? It does work if you click on a site from the favorites list.
Any help is appreciated.

I just looked and I can't find it either. And middle click won't open a new tab for me either. They made major changes to the interface in vers 9 and to be honest, it's even worse than it was before. It's interface is just about opera's only weakness, that and it's very slow to open, even on a fast machine.

I've got the second-latest version of Opera (haven't updated yet) and I've never seen a middle-click option. Click on Tools in the Toolbar and click on Preferences (not Quick Preferences!); under the Advanced tab, check Open new page next to active and OK your way out. That should do what you want when you click on a link.
I don't know about the slowness factor; I have 17 sites tabbed that I save on shutdown (I have the setting on Start from last time) and when I open Opera, it's 100% ready to go in 10-12 seconds or so.

lgbpop, thanks, but the tab still doesn't become the foreground.

That's slow, to me, lgb. Maxthon opens and loads 30 tabs in that time.

Move to Florida, that's fast here.
I've heard that a "New York minute" equals 38 seconds, izzat true?

..... lmao Pop ..... more like 20 seconds
When I open preferences\advanced\Open new page next to active the middle click works fine
I didn't even know it was available to be honest until I read this
I will say it doesn't become the main page..... but it does open up in a new tab for me as well.

You'll get a new foreground (active) tab with <Shift> + click.
Today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday

Ahh yes that gives you the option to choose "open in new tab" after I selected that every link I clicked on after that was the current new tab
Thanks mhl!!

There should be an option to activate new tab without hitting a key. If not, that's a huge oversight. That would be enough to stop me using it right there.

Thanks, great tip.
I used it in Firefox to get the new tab to open in the background, something I've been trying to do for some time.
