Dr Seven--The msdn instruction is in two parts
    First
either click it or use the TAB key to set focus on it
This part of the instruction means you can either click on the message or use the TAB key to focus on the message.
    The second part is
Then you click the SPACEBAR or ENTER to download the control.
It may not even be necessary to set the focus, since I suspect the message already has the focus, but it should do no harm to click on the message as long as you do not close it by clicking OK or the X.
(The "focus" means the part of the open window on which IE is placing most attention.)

    Question Press space bar...

    Welshjim,

I'm afraid you've lost me. What do you mean by msdn instruction?

Also, if you're talking about the message I was talking about where it said, "Press space bar or hit enter etc." then I tried clicking on it, but there wasn't really anything to click on. It was just a box with those words in it. I tried pressing space bar, tried hitting enter and it didn't do anything. It was like a message just placed at the top of ther space where it showed shockwave loading below, in the upper left hand corner.

Dr Seven--The msdn instruction is the link I have provided two or three times earlier
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/?u...ng_activex.asp

If you have put the site URL where you are getting the message into your Trusted Sites, I suspect all you have to do is "Press Spacebar or Enter" and you will download the ActiveX control you need. You will see no message that this has succeeded. But if you now press Refresh, do you still get the messages? (Or perhaps reboot first.)
If you still get the messages, I am afraid I have run out of ideas.
If it works, you will have to do it at each site where you get the message.
P.S. Click IE Tools|Internet Options|General tab|Settings|View Objects. Do you see one or more icons for Shockwave. Those are the ActiveX controls.

    Press space bar...

    Welshjim,

I have put the URL into my trusted sites. I has been there for some time now. I tried usimg the tab key to focus on the pop-up, but I couldn't see that anything was happening. The pop-up remianed looking the same. When I pressed the space bar nothing happened. When I clicked on the pop-up and then hit enter like the page in msdn suggested all that happened was that I got a dinging noise. I tried both refresh and reboot after I clicked and hit enter. But the pop-up message stills appears. I went into Internet Options, view objects and there I saw shockwave activeX was installed

Below you will see some code. That code is what someone here sent me to send to the webmaster. (and I included the explanation that was sent with the code)

    <embed src="http://moneyballs.com/images/lotto/match.wav" hidden
    >>>> autostart="false" loop="false" name="matchsound" mastersound width="0"
    >>>> height="0">
    >>>> <embed src="http://moneyballs.com/images/lotto/win.wav" hidden
    >>>> autostart="false" loop="false" name="winsound" mastersound width="0"
    >>>> height="0">
    >>>>
    >>>> I had an expert look at the code on your page. According to him the
    >>>> above code and the way your are employing it is causing me to get the
    >>>> error pop-up that tells me to click to run an activeX program on this
    >>>> page.
    >>>>
    >>>> According to him you need to use a seperate javascript code to load the
    >>>> sounds instead of embedding them on the page.

Going back to what I said befoer I showed you this code, shockwave activeX is listed as installed. Is that the same as being activated? If not, then what could I do to activate it? Is clicking and hitting enter the only way?

Dr Seven--Is this happening only at one site?
If so, please post its URL.
Otherwise, I regret that I have run out of ideas.

Yes, it is only happening on this one site. Here is the url. I don't know if you have to sign in to see anything, but if you do don't worry about since they WILL NOT send you any spam.

Dr Seven--You have me stumped. I have no problem getting to the moneyballs.com page. No messages. And I certainly do not have moneyballs in my Trusted Sites. Just one fairly benign looking cookie blocked by Restricted Sites.

    Did you ever do this?
P.S. Click IE Tools|Internet Options|General tab|Settings|View Objects. Do you see one or more icons for Shockwave. Those are the ActiveX controls.
    ??
And have you ever gone to http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/downl...ShockwaveFlash
to download Flash Player itself? You will need to put www.adobe.com into Trusted Sites to do that. And uncheck the box to download Yahoo Toolbar before downloading Flash.

    Question Press space bar...

I have no problem getting to moneyballs. When you were there did you try to play anything? Because I don't get any messages until I click on either the lottery or the slots. Then it insists on me clicking it or else it won't work.

    Yes, I went to IE tools/Internet options/general tab/settings/view objects.

I don't know what you mean by icons. There is just a list of things in there and one of them says shockwave installed. Do you mean there should be an icon representing shockwave. Wouldn't it just saying shockwave installed be good enough?

I didn't go to adobe to download shockwave. I went to Macromedia's download page and downloaded it from there. Why? Does it make a difference to download it from adobe? Why wouldn't Macromedia's download page be good enough? After all, it's their product. And I got the latest version since it said it was posted in May and is listed as 10.1.1

BTW. That laird you were replying to on Majorgeeks is me. They made me use a different user name.

They talked about using firefox and claimed that activeX is not a problem using firefox. What do you think of this?

    Unhappy Press space bar...

BTW, while I was waiting for a reply, I thought I'd just make sure that I had the latest version of shockwave installed. I went through the whole routine where it said it was installing it and the Xtra package and it played the short movie and said it was installed.

I then went to moneyballs and still got the click to pop-up and worse yet now the slots won't show up. Also, at the bottom of the game area where the lottery is played there are two circles one can click on to fill in a dot. One of the circles is called shockwave on the other is called shockwave off.

I click on shockwave on and it won't stay enabled. It keeps going back to off. I wrote the webmaster a while back and asked him how to make it stay enabled for shockwave on. He wrote back and told me what to do. But that was so long ago that I forgot what he told me. I wrote there recently and asked him to tell me again and I never got any answer. You have any idea what to do to make it stay enabled for on?

    Welshjim,

Thanks for posting the info about Moneyballs on Majorgeeks.

I would bet my right arm that my shockwave is installed correctly.

I would also bet my left arm that moneyballs IS a scam. I have been playing there like an idiot for seven years. I have nearly 4000 "free" tickets, and over four hundred dolars in "bonus" money. The whole thing is bogus.

If they were a legitimate site they would answer back when a person had a support question. And they would make every effort to please the customer. I don't believe they would just let the site go to hell like it has for me if they were honest and cared. (And the site has gone to hell. Depending on what system a person has they see different things when they go there. People on that forum you posted about said they saw things I didn't. How is that possible? If it were a straight site everyone would see the same thing.)

They are making a bundle if all those sponsors they have are paying then anything at all.

So, I learned my lesson. I wrote them, told them I heard it was a scam and asked them if they cared to defend themselves. What do you bet they DO NOT answer back? Of if they do what kind of BS will they spout?

In the meantime, I have deleted their site.

Dr Seven--All's well that ends well.
There are others with a fairly low opinion about moneyballs

Thanks for sending along this further info about this scam.

I forget what the odds were that were listed, but I remember they were fairly high to match four numbers. Still, I did match four numbers over the years several times. But I began to suspect that it was at least impossible even if it wasn't a scam to match five numbers let alone 7.

Every so often they post the picture of someone who claims they won.
I'd be willing to bet that the picture is of an employee of the company or some family member.
