    laptop purchasing issue

    Hey,

As part of my college scholarship, I get a free Dell Latitude D520 laptop. The specs are ok (core duo T2300, 512 ram, etc) but the problem is that it has a crappy intel integrated graphics card and it doesn't look like there is an option to upgrade (i want something like an ati x1400 or geforce 7900 cause i may be gaming a bit). I asked the college whether they could just give me the cash value of the laptop but they said it wasnt an option. On dell's website, the value of the laptop is listed as $1350.

So my question: Is it possible to sell the laptop on ebay or something and then buy an inspiron 1705 with the specs i want?

I guess it would depend on the terms and conditions under which the college supply you with the laptop - there may be clauses to prevent you selling it within a certain period.

But if you are really into gaming, I would keep the laptop for your college work and buy or build yourself a separate desktop gaming rig, it will outperform any laptop. And you are unlikdely to get all that much selling the lappy on Ebay.
    Nick.

I would definately chose to keep games away from my school work.

Seperating school work and your other thing activities would be the way I would go.
Just had a couple clients learn that the hard way. And they failed to back up there school work too.

ok thanks for your responses. However it brings me to the next question, what is the difference between the inspirion and latitude. I noticed that inspirons come with better hardware and more features for the same or less price than latitudes.
