Dual Monitors & Setting programs to start on any monitor

    Hi,

I currently am running dual monitors using 1 video card. I want to be able to select which programs start up on which monitor. This is especially useful for video games, since not all video games have a movable window.

If this requires some third party program, that is fine also. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

When I drag a program to another screen and reboot the program remembers which screen it was last on. Does this not happen for you?
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Yes, this works for me, but not all applications have a movable window. For example, the game Call of Duty 2 always goes full screen and has no movable window. Since the window cannot be moved, it cannot ever start up on the secondary monitor.

Unfortunately that's just the way some programs are written I've never been able to find any solution to it.

I think there is an option to open the game in a window, check the settings as i can't find my CD to check it....

There is an "r_fullscreen" option in the config.cfg file, but it doesn't work. You set it to "0" (off) and it resets it back to "1" when you start/close the game. Bugged as hell. So far it's basically impossible to start this game in windowed mode.

Have you tried making the config file read only after you make the change? Don't know if it otherwise needs to be written to for any reason but it's worth a try.

    Thanks for the response.

I just tried this and the game still didn't load in a window. Although the value is no longer automatically reset, it still doesn't care if it's 1 or 0.

    Thanks again.

MultiMon will do this for you. While it will also add separate task bars to a 2nd or 3rd monitor in your setup, it also has options to save window preferences as to which screen you always prefer it to open on.

I'm not sure how performance would be with games however.
