Router connection annoyance..
Hey there,
I've got a netgear DG834G router, and its been (and still is) working great since i bought it. The problem im having is that sometimes my computer tries to connect to the net the way i connected before i got the router, which was via a usb modem. it tries to dial, and when it does that my internet freezes, untill i press cancel. sometimes it repeats this again and again and doesnt let me do anything online. its very odd, and i have no idea how to stop it! id really appreciate some help if anyones got any ideas! im running windows XP.
thanks a lot!
Jonny

Open Internet Explorer. Click on Tools/Internet Options. Click the Connections Tab and select the radio button labeled 'Never dial a connection'.
The only barrier to knowledge is the perception that you already have it.

That's part of it. The other magic setting is in Control Panel | Network Connections, Advanced | Dial-up Preferences. Check the box to disable autodial.
Safe computing is a habit, not a toolkit.
