Resolved [RESOLVED] Screen on 2 comps go white after on a while

I have 2 computers that I had formatted their drives and put on Windows XP. The monitors were working fine before I started the whole process, running Windows 2000 professional. Now after being on for a while they suddenly go white with pale yellow stripes and I have to reboot and then it all happens again. I have 2 other computers that have Windows XP and have not had this problem. I have gone into Safe Mode and the monitors function properly. I have been into the device manager and removed the the driver and it reinstalled it again on its own. Other than a Sledge Hammer I have run out of ideas!!!!

    Thankyou in Advance
    Suzanne

    Computer 1

    733 MHz
    176 MB RAM

You are using incredibly out of date drivers on both machines. I would install the latest drivers and see how they work:

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.98.html

BTW, your second machine really needs more RAM to run WinXP, it needs more memory than Win2000 did and 256MB should be considered the absolute minimum.

I just tried that and it said
NVIDIA setup could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware

Still think I should try said sledge hammer!

Am in process of adding more RAM to computer 2

    Blessings

In that case, please can you tell us exactly what graphics cards are in those PC's? This nice utility will tell you if you aren't sure:

    Oh dear!

The "Crush" was the original codename for what is now called the nForce chipset. It was exclusively for AMD processors, and there is no chance whatsoever of it being on your P3 machines. Clearly Windows is pretty confused about the graphics hardware that's installed, and that's probably at the root of the problem.

Have a look and see what it says under Display>Windows Video.
