Windows Defender requires GDI+ error on Windows 2000
There has been number of users who have tried to install Windows Defender on Windows 2000 and receives an installation error that requires the GDI+. When trying to install Windows Defender Beta 2 on Windows 2000 SP4 you may receive an installation error:
This software requires GDI+. Please download the Windows 2000 Security
Software PreRequisite Pack.
To install Windows Defender on Windows 2000, follow these steps:
1) Get the download here.

2. Place the DLL file in \winnt\system32 (modify as needed for
your system).
3. Run the .MSI file to install Windows Defender.
