Thought I'd pass along a decent site for anyone who wants to repair their own PDA, iPOD. Many of the kits include the tools needed to do the job or can be purchased separately. Yes, you can replace that iPOD battery Apple was sued over.

That's a common problem with the Zen.
Creative was repairing and replacing them under warranty but it was never improved so the problem kept re-occuring
If you can solder and have steady hands, you can fix it once and for all. see below.

Thankyou very kindly.....i'll give it a go.

It was one of those typical warranty situations where the jack started playing up after the warranty ends.

I just tried it, i took it apart completely to see how hard it was, and once it was down to 8 seperate pieces, i re-assembled it, turned it on.....and none of the buttons would work, nor the power button, so i swore a bit, had a look around it, and decided to pull it apart again......

.....I pulled the ribbon off again, and checked the hard-drive ribbon, and reconnected it, and crossed my fingers....and it works!!!!!

1 heart-attack later, and i now know how to work my way through it, and may attempt to replace the jack, although the 5 main points are really tiny, and i could damage it.....may take it to a pro.

My Creative MuVo² didn't even power up after spilling diet coke on it .

I took it apart completely as per something similar to this and dried all visible moisture and leaving to dry out for a day or two.

Powered up and bingo was working except for the buttons.

Took apart and cleaned contacts of button assembly and put back to together.

Some success with the buttons working on and off for about a week before working for about a month then just not working at all.

Bought a new 5Gb model with built in FM radio for AU$239 vs AU$399 I paid for the 1.5Gb model sans radio 2 years earlier.

I saw the thread you made about it Nix, quite unfortunate, i was quite surprised how easy it was to get the thing apart, i could do it again without a guide, basically down to 9 parts, 6 if you don't count the plastic shell/back cover/battery.

I paid £125 for my 5gb Micro, and i thought i was gonna have to shell that out again when the touchpad didn't work, but i fiddled around and it's alive again.
