Resolved [RESOLVED] Making external drive non active

I have a Dell Optiplex GX240 and have installed an external drive [Apricorn EZ Bus DT] http://www.apricorn.com/shopping.php?ID=226 with a 160 Gig HHD. I am running Windows XP Pro and 2.0 USB. Am new at XP and when I set this up I marked the drive as "active". Every thing works fine but the drive searches when it is turned on. I have installed files on the drive but wish to have it "non active", how do I reverse what I did. The drive is formated NTFS, do I have to reformat and start over?

Might try disabling Indexing. Go into "My Computer", right-click on the drive in question, left-click "Properties", uncheck "Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast file searching" and select "Apply changes to subfolders and files". If any files can not be updated select "Ignore All".

    Thanks for all the replies.
    1. The searching was an autoplay screen when the drive is first turned on,see attachment.
    2. I turned off indexing and it was OK but I went ahead and removed the partition and reformatted and created a new partition. Everything is OK now. Thanks
