    Internet Checkers Game

Hello Everyone: I have an this Internet checkers game (icon) on my desktop. Now Until yesterday I was able to click on the Icon and start playing checkers.
    This is the .exe >> "C:\Program Files\MSN Gaming Zone\Windows\chkrzm.exe"
Now when I click on the Icon, I get a message screen saying "Checkers is unable to start, close some other programs and try again or try reinstalling checkers using the add/remove programs."
I have no other programs running and its not in the add/remove list.
I just cannot remember where i got it from I just know on the game itself it states>> msnzone.com
you click on the desktop Icon and start playing right away.
Anyone use this or know of it? I think I may have accidentally deleted a .dll for this game, I was getting rid of zone alarm and it folders etc and may have deleted a .dll, I dont know, Thanks, Tom

That's MSN Gaming Zone. Go to msn.com, click on Games in the left-side column, then find Checkers in the Board Games section. You'll be better off just reloading it; they've upgraded a lot of the games. I had to reload my Cribbage and Bridge sites Saturday.

As far as closing other programs--clear out your Temp files, cookies and history. Manually is OK if you know everywhere to look, otherwise use a utility like CCCleaner. If not done regularly, you will tie up a lot of space with that stuff.

You should find it in All Programs>Games. If you can't start it from there, go to the Windows\System32\dllcache folder and copy "chkrzm.exe" into the Program Files\MSN Gaming Zone\Windows folder.

You may be on to something here SuperSparks.>>> go to the Windows\System32\dllcache folder and copy "chkrzm.exe"
I did not find the dllcache folder, however I may have accidentally deleted it earlier, but I do have another pc with this internet checkers on it, so if I find the dllcache folder on this pc can I somehow copy it and bring it over to this pc? Let me know your thoughts and Thanks, Tom

Yes, it will be the same file on any WinXP machine, so it doesn't matter where it comes from.

Do I copy the whole .dllcache folder to a disk? Then drag and drop into systems32? (if so probably have to use a disk not floppy, its 195minutes long)

Yes, a CD-RW or even a larger flash drive will work. Make note of where exactly it came from on the donor computer; then transfer the drive to your computer and download it to the corresponding folder.

Tom, You could just use a floppy disk and copy chkrzm.exe which is only 41.5 KB and put the file into the Program Files\MSN Gaming Zone\Windows folder. It's up to you but this should work without having to copy the entire dllcache folder.

Solved: Ok, I was under the impression that these games were not preinstalled on an OEM machine but only on the other xp systems. but I was wrong I got these instructions (which I will FRAME) from HP and they worked just fine. Thank You ALL for your kind replies, it was great working with you guys. Here are the instructions that worked.>>>

By way of information I would like to inform you that the game comes
preinstalled with windows XP in the HP computer and can be restored by
    following these steps:

    1. Click Start, select Control Panel, and double-click the Add or
    Remove
    Programs icon.
    2. Click the Add/Remove Windows Components option and highlight
    Accessories
    and Utilities.
    3. Select the Details button and deselect the Games checkbox.
    4. Click OK, select Next, and choose Finish.
    5. Repeat steps 1 and 2.
    6. Select the Games checkbox.
    7. Click OK, select Next, and choose Finish.

This should reinstall the Windows XP games component and you should be
able to see the Internet checkers game under start >> all programs >>
    games.
