Router Not Connecting to Modem
I have WIN2000 OS, 25GB ROM, 256 MB RAM. I have a cable connection to the Internet, my modem is Motorola and just added a Linksys wireless router. At first the router worked on my PC and Laptop. Then my PC's connection to the Internet started slowing down and one day the Laptop lost it's Internet connection. This all happened within a 6-week period. My tech support via cable company spent time troubleshooting by phone and determined it was a problem with the router. I exchanged the router and it is still not working. However, my cable connection is fine when I disconnect the router. Please help.

Do you have the latest firmware installed on the Linksys router? Just becasue it's new doesn't mean it's up to date.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry. I'm a novice. What's "firmware" and how would I go about updating?

go to:
http://192.168.1.1 and eneter your authentication infomation and on the main page you will see a firmware version number.
Now go to the Linksys website and match your model to the ones there and see what the latest firmware version for your model is. If it is the same, then we need to look elsewhere.
