They apparently allow a free download. I am testing it. So far, I am quite suspicious as it has found 3 high threat registry keys (2 coolwebsearch 1 MSConnect) and quite a few data miners. I have not tried to remove them yet as I will first run Ad-aware and Spybot to see what they find. If Xoftspy will ask me to pay to remove them, I will know for sure that the spyware it has found is a lie. I will keep you updated.
Stay away from this #$@&!!!!!
I ran scans (at home) of Ad-aware and Spybot S&D. Ad-aware came up with one data miner (cookie), Spyware came up clean. I then ran Xoftspy(ware) and what did I get? The same high threats I got at work. I added a screen shot. That made me mad. The rest made me even madder. I wanted to see what happened when I pressed the remove button. It opened a box saying I need to be registered. It asked for a name and serial key. If you do not have one, press the registration button and register to get the key. I pressed and in opened this page.
$20 off when ordering online, only $39.95. What a bunch of ****! MAD MAD MAD!

Atta boy Usil, don't take no crap off'n them.
Something to do while waiting for long downloads. Atari Adventure
What makes it even worse is that these scumbags are ripping off the good freeware scanners, making a few mods so that they'll show false positive results, and then charging money for them. From that screenshot that Usil posted, they haven't made any real attempt to disguise the fact that it's really Ad-Aware. And on of the other rip-off programs is even adding insult to injury by directing all tech support to the Spybot S & D site
ý downloaded it and it claimed to have found four spywares,of which two of them were coolwebsearch and one MSConnect. now, ý realize that , on this forum, another user says he found the same spywares by using xoft spy. so, it seems to be a lie.

USIL, and everyone else…!
Below are a FEW links to some sites where you can “report” ripoffs, fraud, scams, etc… I cannot personally attest to the current day effectiveness of all of these sites, but they do appear credible and useful. These links are from some existing bookmarks, so there may be more out there by now – you might want to do some searches on the subject keywords, i.e. rippoffs, fraud, scams, etc., to find newer sites, or anyone knowing of additional/better sites, would appreciate an update…
MODERATORS: has this already been addressed in another thread? If not, you all might want to (start a thread and get more feedback and) compile a (shorter) list like this and eventually post it in appropriate forums as a “sticky” so that more of us are aware and doing something about the yayhoos that try to deceive us…? And, maybe order the resultant list of links ranked in order of most effective at the top?
edit: in retrospect, not sure how good some of the above links are, as a few look to be out for money, and may well be scams themselves (?) kind of like SPYHUNTER installing spyware, so I guess the bottom line is that we need some authoritative input on the subject...
