    Can't Access Printers (Folder)

Windows 98 machine that uses a HP Laserjet 4MV, will not let me access the printer folders. If I go to START | SETTINGS | PRINTERS - nothing happens. If I go through the control panel and try to access it from there, same thing. When I reboot the system I get an End Task windows for Spooler Process and have to kill it for the system to reboot.

Any and all input will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks-

i would do a restore on the computer, back to a date when the computer worked fine.
    boot up,
hit f8 just before win logo, choose c: prompt only.
    type in this command
    c:\scanreg/restore [note the forward slash]
in the resulting menu, choose the earliest date available .
you won't lose data or settings.

also, unplug the printer from the power and data cable. let set for a few minutes.
while plugging in the power cord, hold down any start button on the printer. then, let go of the start if you get a beep.
then plug in the data cable.
should straighten out the printer confusion

Try going to device manager and removing the printer from there.
Reboot. When system finds new hardware, install your drivers.
If it does not find new hardware (printer) just manually install new hardware with your printer disc (hopefully having one)
I've had to do that occassionally with canon laser I have.
    Good luck.

Thanks for the responses. However, there is a printer folder in the Control Panel - but I can't access that either. This systems restore point does not solve the problem either. I think I am just going to format and reinstall - but I do appreciate the input.
