Testing of Hard Drive Speed etc
I have just installed a new hard drive and tested the performance on the free PcPitstop Web Site. attached is a part screen shot of the results.(results.jpg)
Whilst the performance figures appear to be quite good for my new drive,I am having doubts as to their veracity.
You see I have no Drive I in my computer.

Is there a way of verifying performance??

I take what PC Pitstop says with a huge grain of salt.
And I mean huge!

HD Tach is a good hard drive benchmark (the free version does read testing, the registered version adds write support). I'm not sure if it supports Vista yet though.
Safe computing is a habit, not a toolkit.

Folks have reported that HD Tach has worked in compatibility mode with Vista 32-bit ...not sure if it works in compatibility mode with 64-bit (but it should).

Hokay...for those readers who care to know...I just tested it and HD Tach does run in Vista 64-bit, but in compatibility (XP) mode only.
We now return you to the regularly scheduled program...

Thanks Train, Tuttle and Bistro.
As salt is not recommended for my Blood Pressure I must refrain from using the doubtful program and try HD Tach before returning to the regularly scheduled program.
