    Resolved [RESOLVED] How to .....Contacts

    What ho one and all,

Have a new(ish) Motorola Android phone running version 10 (Go).

On my old phone (Samsung Android7) I could put a short-cut to my wife's' mobile on the home screen, one press and it would ring.

One the Motorola, I can create favourites in the Contact folder, but have not found how to place a favourite short-cut on the home screen.

    Grateful for any leads,

    Thanks and toodle pip

Thanks for the link. Seems to me that different phone manufacturers, add or remove different Android functions. My previous, Samsung Galaxy J5 seems in retrospect, to have been very good.

The current one a Motorola with Android 10 Go is rather restricted. Holding any icon does not bring up the Widget option one every icon, as every web search implies, only a few have that option. For example, I have a folder within Gallery, called BarCodes. Have the membership barcodes of places we visit, shop discount codes, etc so I don't have to carry the cards around. On the Samsung, had a shortcut on the home screen to Barcodes. On the Motorola, the folder is within a Google widget / Gallery. Have not figured out how to get a shortcut to the home screen, so now it requires three presses (Widget, Gallery, Barcodes) to get to the same screen that I could open with one press.

Not life changing but given how I am told that upgrading the phone and OS is soooo important, this is a step backwards.

Android Go is a stripped down version of Android, so many of the features are missing. This has disadvantages, as you have seen. Customization is very limited. It does have one advantage, however, in that you are not forced to install and use Google Gemini.

I have found some work-arounds to a couple of the layout features I would like, but the one biggie now, is there are no flags on WhatsApp and text messages, to indicate a new message.

Did find a work-around to my Barcodes folder with everything annoyingly listed by date. Opened each image and saved as a screenshot, which I later edited to crop out just the code. Now all the images are in one folder with no date. Of course, I am still unable to arrange them but there are worse things in life to content with.

Must admit that Assistant was annoying me; firing up when I activated the phone without my asking. Every time I uttered the immortal phrase, F**k You, the word conveniently appeared on screen. Have uninstalled it but Gemini seems to the going the full Donald Thump.
