Win 10 Home - new user appeared

One day a new user appeared at bottom left before I reach the desktop.

Can anyone explain why, and why it comes and goes?

An update is my guess but it doesn't seem likely that an update removes it from time to time.

It's an Admin user and I don't see it all the time. Sometimes it boots to desktop and the new user isn't shown. It must have been created by an update because I didn't put it there. Maybe some updates require a higher privilege?

Microsoft has a number of higher-privileged users that are used to install updates and perform other tasks, but they should never show anywhere you can see them. If you are seeing a user you did not create, you should be checking for malware. Also, go into the Manage Users control panel section to see if you can find that user. Post any screen captures of the user information that you can find here so we can take a look.
