Thank you for helping me when I was young and dumb?
Hey, at least I was wiling to learn! Today is my 68th Birthday and I have been a member since 1999! 26 Years!
So my story is, I was living in Las Vegas, poor, and my computer kept needing repairs. Like $300 a shot. Next time it went tits up, I spent the $300 I had for repair on a second tower so I could use the internet to figure out how to fix it myself. Virtual Dr was a God Send to me. I learned how to troubleshoot with the volunteers patience. I stayed with it.
Since I joined, I have not taken in any computer tower for repair.
So to all the OLD TIMERS still around, I still have fond memories. PROFOUND THANKS!
If I remember correctly, someone from here walked me through doing a win-flat install on a version of Windows. Don’t remember why it was necessary, but I still have my step by step notes on that! Not too many people my age that are not afraid of a Command Line. All thanks to you guys!
Funny that my entire family comes to me for help!
Sincerely,
Cyndy——now living in beautiful Pacific Northwest. Puget Sound. 98201 if you want to look, smack in the middle of that peninsula in 98201.
Can anyone around these days beat my 26 years?

THANK YOU! I’m going to Kyoto tonight, a Japanese steakhouse (hibachi style), where I will order my annual Steak and Lobster dinner and celebrate with family…
Yes! It took me that long to earn my wings and fly solo. I have come in over the years to research specific issues, but have not had to post myself. I have referred many people here over the years.
Thanks!!

WOW! It’s painful to read that post LOL! It was a steep learning curve for sure. That was the time in my life when the word “configure” scared me, and viruses, Trojans were rampant. I remember catching the LOVE Trojan. At one point I was looking at my monitor literally watching all my files being deleted.
I clicked on your cat lovers link (finally)! SO CUTE!!! I am a dog person, but I bought a 100 yo house in 2020 and quickly learned it had a rodent issue. RATS! After trying all the usual methods (except NO POISON OR SPRING TRAPS), I settled on 100’ of hardware cloth to stop tunneling, and FERAL CATS! So now, instead of listening to rats in the walls and ceiling, I wake up every morning and feed the feral cat colony that lives on my property in a weather-proof and predator-proof shelter. YES! I learned to LOVE CATS!

OMGosh, you joined 2 months before me! Funny where I started, now I have so much tech in the house it’s obscene.
2 Desktops, 4 monitors
2 printers, 2 scanners
2 laptops, one desktop replacement with Linux, one specifically to be a moving office with portable printer and (3rd) hand scanner
I have 4 iPads, 4-5 iPhones, 2 iPods
Probably more…

Wow, Cyndy, that's an amazing story! Happy 68th Birthday! 26 years is seriously impressive. I doubt many can beat that. Glad Virtual Dr. helped you so much, that's what it's all about.
