Which Dell Optiplex model do you have, and which case size also (Standard or Small Form Factor (SFF)). I assume that you are wanting to connect this adapter to a second monitor, but a more detailed description of what exactly you are wanting to accomplish might be helpful, including monitor size and resolution, and if it is for gaming or video editing, etc. For USB-C to HDMI, you would need to have a fast USB-C connector on your computer.

Depending on what usage is planned, an add-in video card might be a better solution, although more expensive.

More info on the HDMI accessory that you are using on the TV would be useful. Depending on what it actually does, you may not need one for the computer. Can we assume that your TV does have an internet connection also?

Your computer would need a USB-C port for that adapter. If your computer is the one at the link below, then it does not have a USB-C port, so that adapter would not work.

    https://www.amazon.com/Dell-990-Disp.../dp/B078PPL5R4
    (Amazon part number B078PPL5R4)

If you are just wanting to connect the TV to your computer as a monitor, then there are other options.

If you have a VGA port on the computer, the following adapter should work:

    https://www.amazon.com/Benfei-Input-...dp/B07K14NR8P/

You would also need an HDMI cable as well to connect to the TV.

    https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-...dp/B08BS181P2/

If you already have another monitor connected to the VGA Port, and want the TV as a second monitor, then an add-in video card would be needed. The type would depend on the exact computer model and case size.

This card should work for standard cases and the next smaller size cases, as it has 2 brackets.

IM surprised... years ago they upgraded the usb cables, made them faster
but the new cables still worked in the old sockets
you re saying now that these usb c cables need a new version of the socket as prob in most new computors ..... !
this is just complicating things, Ill have to go back on amazon and look for an older version of hdmi to usb that does nt mention the letter c !

You can get simple adapters that convert USB-C to USB-A, however, if you are wanting to transfer video signals over USB, the old USB-A standard is not going to be fast enough to do this. File transfer would work fine, but video probably will not. USB-C is much faster than the old USB-A.

A VGA to HDMI adapter would work, or an inexpensive video card would do what you are wanting.

If your computer has a USB-A port that is USB 3.0, this might work. It might work with USB 2.0, and lower resolutions, however, there is no guarantee. The reviews I have seen for most units are not the best. The one below might work for you, but you would have to test it to be sure:

    just saw this on line.....

USB-C is backward compatible with older USB standards, like USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. You can use a USB type A to USB type-C converter or adapter to connect USB type A devices to USB type-C. You can also use a cable to connect older USB devices to USB type-C.

That is a private link to your own acc't. You'll need to change that to a link directly showing the product.

VirtualDr email notices are not working.
