McAfee Security Scan Plus
Wasn't sure where to put this but how can I get McAfee Security Scan Plus off Windows 11?
Their site gave me a tool to use and it took the antivirus program out, but left this "Security Scan" that keeps popping up once or twice a day.
If I try to remove it in add/remove programs this ad type thing (from McAfee) shows up and won't let me continue.
Thank you.

Thanks, the Komondo link may have worked. McAfee Security Scan Plus is still listed in programs but if I try uninstall I get a message that Windows can't find it.
I'll see what happens in the next few days.

If the menu item or a Program Files folder is all that is left, it should be simple to remove those. If you still get popups, a Registry search for McAfee items might be the next thing to try.

Still getting pop ups for McAfee.
I have already removed all McAfee I could find so now Windows says it can't find the McAfee uninstall exe. file.

Check start up programs and Services:
https://www.howtogeek.com/find-hidde...grams-windows/
Search in regedit for McAfee registry-related entries.

Ok, I ended a couple in start up but in the windows registry there is still McAfee\msc\mcsync.exe/ui and I don't see an option to delete that.
Will it be enough to just stop it on start up?
Thank you

If you can get it stopped on startup, that should be sufficient, provided it does not automatically re-enable itself.

It's behaving like malware so I'd treat it like malware. Our intensive care malware forum is not open at this time but you can go here and start a new thread for them to get scans of your computer and give their recommendations on how to get rid of this. Do explain everything in detail including what you've done so far.

Can't seem to get registered on that site - whatever user name I come up with it says it's already taken.
Am I supposed to be changing a value in the registry?
Taking it out of start up is not helping, just returns.
There is McUpdater Module as well as the Security Scan Plus listed.
Thank you.

Do you have a twitter acc't? click on the "how do I create an account" link on the right and follow instructions. Otherwise you can try contacting them....

Also I just tried signing up with a new name and the first few times I tried it told me the username was not available but I closed the page, went back and then it worked.
