Free for "Personal Use" alternative to TeamViewer
I am looking for an alternative to TeamViewer for PC (Windows pre v11) to PC (Windows pre v11) remote connectivity via Internet.
I have a disabled friend who has an adult daughter. Friend lives on 1st floor of their house and daughter lives on 2nd floor of the house.
I need to be able to connect to both of their PCs when they have problems or need assistance with their PC's. Both are computer illiterate just about. So instead of driving over to their house when they need help I just want to be able to connect to either of their PCs (running Win v10) and see their screens on my PC (Win v10) screen and control their PC as I need to.
I am/was using TeamViewer but for some reason TeamViewer flagged me (my email) as "commercial", I guess because when I first signed up I used my old business email address and now I am locked out from the Free Personal use of TeamViewer.
Also, sometimes I have to give my friend and or daughter a hand while I am at my part time job where I use a gmail.com email address and can't keep logging out of that to log into another email address.
So for this reason I am looking for an alternative to TeamViewer to be able to connect to either of their PCs from home or work no matter what email address I am presently logged into when I have to connect remotely. The challenge is on their end also. Both of them have multiple email addresses and one of my friend's email addresses that he uses is an old business email address (used to stay in contact with his old clients). His daughter has several and I never know which one she is logged into. His and hers are domain @gmail.com, @yahoo.com and one of his is from a site/domain he keeps active for not only email use but other reasons.
What FREE alternatives would there be (no "trial" versions) for me to use other than TeamViewer? I did a search for alternatives and there are so many, I was hoping someone could just suggest one I could use from personal experience.
Thanks for suggestions and assistance.

How much does TeamViewer cost? Wouldn't paying a few bucks be the simple and smart thing to do?
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Two possibilities...
Free with a time limit per month (17 hours)...
https://www.distantdesktop.com/
Free with no limits...

VirtualDr email notices are not working.
Check back regularly for responses.

TeamViewer has been doing that for a while now. I still use it occasionally, but that commercial account thing is annoying.
Chrome Remote Desktop works great. You'll need Google Chrome installed on the target computer. And of course, they would need Gmail accounts.

You need to install the Chrome Remote Desktop extension, and run chromeremotedesktophost.msi
I haven't tried HelpWire yet, but it seems promising.

I am still looking for a TeamViewer alternative that is as good as TeamViewer. I would pay a reasonable fee, but their monthly fee is ridiculous for the amount of time/times that I actually need to use it.
I have used it occasionally for:
Remote Support for other computer users
Access to some of my computer systems for remove viewing of files and video streams
So, I need to be able to transfer files, and print documents to a printer on the remote system or on the local system, and I need to be able to see and hear video and audio streams from the remove computer.

Oh my my my - I am sorry for the delay in coming back to check on your replies. I have been really busy with the snow storm last week and work is crazy. Not receiving an email alerting me to replies I tend to forget to come back looking to see if there are replies.
Meantime, I quickly looked as some of your suggestions. Interesting.
I am not going to pay for Teamviewer monthly. Some months I would hardly if ever use it and some months are heavy usage depending on what their issues are.
So far MidKynte "XDE" looks to be the most promising so far. I will look at it more. It seems to have what I need, not cluttered and easy to use. Also, it makes it quite clear from what I can see so far that the remote person does not have to be at their computer at the time that I connect. Sometimes I get a text/call for help, can't sit down at that moment and later I will connect even if no one on the other end can accept a remote session at that time.
Google/Chrome connect has to have a Gmail email account. That won't work for now.
Thanks so much for your suggestions everyone. So much appreciated.
After I decide on one and use it for awhile I will come back to this thread and give an update so anyone in the future can read it if needed for themselves.
Have a great holiday weekend.
