I can't get my files to change from read only. I have went into c/windows/properties/security and changed all users to full access and still I go to the file properties and change it from read only click apply it asks if I want sub folders changed too I say yes it goes through the motions I click ok and then go back to properties and the read only is checked as if I did nothing.

Is the read only box "shaded" or does it have a checkmark in it?

If you open a TEXT file - can you edit/add to it and save it?
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Is this the actual C:\Windows folder? If so, you may have to change ownership of the folder, and that might be harder to do than on a regular folder that you created or already own.

One bad thing about changing properties in the windows folder is, when windows does a update. Those properties will get re-set to they're defaults.

If you can open and save a text file then your folder is NOT read only.

Here is a picture of my DOWNLOAD folder. Please note:

    1. The "attributes" show my Read-Only to NOT be checked... It's only the shaded box.... Also note that -> (Only applies to FILES in folder)

    2. Hidden is Selected - we can tell that by the Check Mark in the box.

Can you copy and paste into the Downloads folder?

K so I misunderstood the question I can save a text on my desktop but not in the download folder and so I just made a new folder on my desktop and direct my downloads there now. I am just never going to use the download folder again. Thanx for the input though it was muchly appreciated
