Photo Restore
And so to the next 'problem.'
All the photos from her old phone, are backed up to Google, somewhere in the cloud.
The new phone has folders entitled Gallery and Photos. Inside Gallery on the new, are the few photos she has taken with the new phone. Inside Photos, are all the photos from her old phone. I am assuming that these photos are a link to Google in the cloud rather than stored on the hardware. But there seems to be no way to move them from wherever they are to the Gallery.
Specifically, how can I move (restore?) the photos to Gallery?

On my Android phone - Gallery and Photos are the same thing.
Can you access and view the pictures in Photos?

Thanks for your reply. On my phone (a 2016 Samsung Galaxy J5) the Gallery icon is not in the distinctive Google style or format. All photos I take, go into Gallery and I can move/save photos from WhatsCrap or others Apps to Gallery.
On her TCL505 (new) both Gallery and Photos are in the Google style. Certainly photos taken with the phone appear in Gallery, But all the photos that 'apparently' were transferred, are in the Google Photos and I have been unable to move them to Gallery. What I don't understand is, are these photos actaully stored in the phone or are they just a link to the Google cloud?
However, yesterday I did mange to move to Gallery by e-mailing them to my computer, plugged her phone in to the USB and copied to Gallery. ut what happens if I delete from Photos?

Upload a random picture, transfer it the same way then delete it from photos and see what happens.
VirtualDr email notices are not working.
Check back regularly for responses.

I tried something similar some time ago. Since I no linger carry a wallet, I scanned the bar code of various cards that I use for shopping discounts, garden entry, library, etc and have them in a folder on the phone.
As i don't need them in Google Photos, I deleted. Guess what, they also vanished from the phone. Which is why I think the photos on the phone only links to the store in the cloud. Which implies that Big Brother has control of my photos.

Your devices are in sync and is doing what you tell it todo.... The trick is to customize that.
Or you can turn off sync if you don't want it to automatically delete in the other device.
