[RESOLVED] Screen protector
What ho one and all,
Just upgraded my phone to one that I'm sure I will learn to understand.
Kinda an old man being left behind by technology questions!.
My old phone has a plastic (?), flexible screen protector that I fitted many moons ago. When checking for a similar for the new phone, everything says mentions toughened glass.
I know it will be thin, but what are the benefits of toughened glass over a thick flexible protector? The phone will be in a wallet case so not sure if toughened glass, which must be thick (ish) will restrict the case closing.
Thanks and toodle pip

Just for the heck of it - post the make and model of the phone.
Links to the things you've been looking at wouldn't hurt.

It is one of China's finest budget phones, TCL 505.

Feels pretty good in the hand but not happy with it being larger than the previous, nor the fact that it is frequently 'updating' stuff, which I assume implies that it is making indirect contact with the Chinese government! Not sure how to turn auto-updates off (yet.)

"Tempered or toughened glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the interior into tension."
The glass on our phones is one of the easiest things to break.... I've never broken one BUT I've always added the Screen Protectors.....

But how thick and rigid are they? Admittedly, our phone are inside a flip wallet; my phone has a kind thin flexible plastic to kinda protect it but probably not much use to prevent the glass breaking.
What I would like for my wife's phone is similar, but not necessarily tempered glass.

The second link you posted above says:
"Tempered Glass, Screen Protector Anti Scratch and Anti Shatter Film"
It's a FILM that Protects Tempered Glass... Not the other way around.

You are correct; I just focused in on the first words.
