HP 6700 Problem
I have used the recycled ink cartridges for a number of years but now one of the cartridges will not work. I'm connected via USB and use Windows 10. In the past, I would go to Settings...HP cartridge protection..."Disable" option and save the settings. My Printer Assistant is now missing as well. I cleaned the printheads a number of times and even changed the cartridge. I was told to perform a power drain. "1) Take out the cartridges 2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall. 3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds. 4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector. 5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer." Still no ink. The other 3 cartridges work fine. I was thinking that I should just delete the HP from my PC and reinstall. Would appreciate receiving your comments.

Reinstalling the HP software might work, but I would not want to bet on that. Check the electrical contacts in the printer for that cartridge to make sure that they are clean.

Thanks for replying. Tried everything you suggest and numerous other suggestions but still no luck. The HP6700, in my opinion, has ended it's lifetime so I'll be purchasing a new unit. Appreciate your comments.

My recommendation would be to NOT purchase another HP printer. Depending on what sort of printing you are doing, a laser printer may be a better choice. I have a Brother MFC color printer, but you may not need the MFC type if you are only printing. The ink for most ink jet printers is ridiculously priced, so unless you are printing photos, a laser printer might be the way to go.

Thanks for your input. My printer is now 10 years old and doesn't owe me a penny. Just bought a new printer. No more problems !!!
