SmartPhone Luddite
What ho one and all,
For me and my wife, our respective phones are pretty much, just that; a phone However....
For reasons that i won't go into, I have just arranged for my wife's phone to be upgraded so that she has NFC to access a government web site for her visa (living in England but she is Japanese.)
Firstly, the new phone come with 127gb of memory. My desktop computer only has 8gb. What is all this memory used for? why is so much considered so important?
Secondly, I have been advised that I can just put the existing SIM into the new phone and she will be good-to-go. I was also advised that when the phone is fired up, there will be an option that allows all data (phone numbers, photos, app, etc) to be transferred (Bluetooth?). What info does the SIM actually hold? If the SIM is transferred, then there will be nothing in the old phone so what transfers?
Thanks and toodle pip

Firstly, the new phone come with 127gb of memory.
That's for storage, not RAM. 2 different types of memory.
The SIM just has your carrier info. You didn't say what type of phone, but you'd usually sync to a cloud-type account. If anything, check with your carrier about transferring the data.
