Laptop pcmcia slot voltage

Hi everyone.
Hope i?m in the correct forum, since my questions are not 100% laptop related

I found an old synth (alesis quadrasynth) from the early 90s which only loads sound patches, via pcmcia cards type 1 (3mm).
Apparently it can read both amd and intel series 2, card protocols. Non Ata cards.

The thing with the amd protocol cards is that they are very expensive. The intel series 2 cards are way cheaper, but apparently they need a (pc or laptop) pcmcia card slot with 12v supply, in order to write the files on the flash card.

So my questions are:

Do i need to find a particular old laptop just for the task? What known old models have 12v for programming on their pcmcia port? Maybe just a jumper from the 12v supply to the pcmcia power pins? I kniw how tosokder very well.

What would be a good way to use a modern pc computer (either pci-e or usb) for that job? An adapter or something appropriate? I repeat, non ata flash card protocol, in case you missed the detail?

Options, if you can find some that work with your PCMCIA memory type cards, would be either a USB external PCMCIA reader or a PCIe slot card that takes PCMCIA cards.

Otherwise, an old laptop with the appropriate slot and OS might be the way to go.

Very expensive. Laptop with pc card 2 (pc card 1 ones are very rare) support is the most affordable solution.
