My name is Randy and from Kansas City, Missouri in the US of A. As a computer nerd in his 40s, I grew up on forums like this since the 80s. I met the mother of my children (now ex-wife) on a forum like this. I met some of my good friends on forums like this. To me, these phpbb forums were the best part of the internet. Facebook Groups killed them which is definitely not a suitable replacement. Discord is better but still not the same. All my old forums are ghost towns even they are even still there. This is the second one I have found in the last couple weeks.

Anyway, I have been tinkering with computers and electronics since I was a kid. I have a reselling business where I assist in selling estates, liquidations, and finding other things to resell whether it needs refurbished or not. I specialize in contemporary and vintage electronics and housewares although I will sell anything that is worth the time but that is what I seek out and have knowledge of. I have also been fixing up olds Windows desktops and laptops to sell as retro gaming units.

I end up with a lot of vintage stereo equipment and have a queue of units that need some type of repair so this forum should be a good resource as I work through them and I am glad to share what I know. I also have been wanting to make some things for old parts I have laying around.

You're right. There aren't many active computer forums left these days. A pity really. One of our sister forums, VBForums, is quite busy.
