    Whatsapp code

    What ho one and all,

I admit that I am a Smartphone Luddite and even more so with regards to WhatsCrap. I have been using WC for a while with no problems.

Yesterday, I set up WC on my wife's phone, did some testing and it all works, sending and receiving. Today, she received an SMS message asking her to enter her received WC code to verify her phone account.

I don't know if this is genuine or as the internet suggests, someone trying to get control of her phone. How could that be when she has only ad WC installed for less that 12 hours?

    Thanks

Whatsapp won't ask you for your code via SMS or TXT or any other way. It's undoubtedly a hacker. They have bots with lists of numbers to continually try on the WhatsApp channels to see if they get a response. Your wife's number would probably have been getting those requests for some time but now that she has the app installed they show up.

If there are ever any doubts about a call or message contact the manuf yourself via their official online contact numbers and ask.

VirtualDr email notices are not working.
    Check back regularly for responses.

Many thanks. Myself, I have only been using WA for around six months and never received such a message. But as I said above, I installed it to my wife's phone only this weekend. How do the bad guys get her number so quickly when she ha only sent about five message in total, and mostly, only to myself (she is in learning mode!)

    Thanks

Malware distributors just send out spam notices to all phone numbers.

She has now deleted the message. Thanks for the advice.
