    Resolved [RESOLVED] PUA:Win32/Softcnapp

    So yesterday I updated Superantispyware and now Windows has detected PUA:Win32/Softcnapp on my computer.
    I ran Malwarebytes, Adware, MS malicious tool, and Superantispyware with no good result. I have researched it and different sites give different results.
    Can anyone help me please? It doesn't seem to affect my computer, but I want it gone!

    PUA = Potentially Unwanted Application

    Unfortunately, this could be some adware bundled with many different other programs.

    Did your research show any associations with any software programs that you actually have installed on your computer?

    Possibly useful links for information only, in case you have not already seen them:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/antivirus/c...tcnapp_threat/

    https://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/us/....softcnapp.abm

    There are Youtube links with information that might lead to finding the software that has this unwanted add-on also.

    The only thing I did was update Superantispyware. after that, I got the alert.

    I called Superantispyware tech support to alert them to their update, but all they want to do is sell you a different program. No tech support, just a salesman.

    If that was the only new item installed, it is possible that either it is a false positive by Superantispyware, or that it the Superantispyware "update" actually is what is generating the PUA alert message.

    Another suggestion that it may be related to the superantispyware update..

    https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/for...in32softcnapp/

    Bleeping computer is one of the most active antimalware sites these days so it would be worth keeping tabs on that thread for more updates.

    VirtualDr email notices are not working.
    Check back regularly for responses.
