    ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE ...TOPS??

There are many Anti-Virus programs on the market today, many boasting as theirs being the best. And always, at the tail end of the years, they cut their prices dramatically.

What does the Virtual Dr. forum suggest or consider as the best overall software for both Android & multiple PC use? It seem like when you decide & purchase one, they always seem to have an upgrade that's a tad better, so they say.... Thanks for any input...

I just use the built in Windows Security since I'm the only person with access to my pc.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also scan with a manual (free) version of Malwarebytes.

I use and like Bitdefender. I have it installed on my media server because it has a lot of available RAM... Bitdefender uses a fair amount.. up to a full GIG for all its functions. I tried SOPHOS for a while and although it seems to do its job the program and its interface and functionality is largely cloud based which I found cumbersome and slow to deal with so I stopped using it.

I run AVAST free on my older PC (emailing, reading news etc). It does seem to provide good protection esp while visiting websites.. it often warns me about potential risks. Downside is that it often tries to up-sell it's paid for version with popups on my computer. It's pretty light on RAM useage though which is why I use it on my older PC with only 4 Gigs of RAM available.

VirtualDr email notices are not working.

McaFee is a good top ten program.... A lot depends on YOUR skills etc. If you are an experienced user and know what NOT to do, the built in Windows Defender that is free is good enough.

Choosing the best antivirus software often depends on your specific needs and preferences. Popular choices like Bitdefender, Norton, and McAfee offer comprehensive protection and are known for their effectiveness on both PCs and Android devices. Look for features important to you, like internet security, ease of use, and system impact. Remember, no antivirus is perfect, and they often update to stay ahead of new threats. Reviews and comparisons from reputable tech sites can also guide your choice. Be wary of constant upgrades; sometimes the basic version is sufficient for most users. "Happy Holidays!" and stay safe online.

Does it make sense to install a separate antivirus now? I've heard that Windows Defender seems to be doing pretty well lately.

I use Bitdefender as my antivirus software. It's been solid in terms of both detection and performance without slowing down my system. What I appreciate most is its unobtrusive nature - it quietly does its job in the background.
I also do these for staying protected from ransomware attacks: https://www.salvagedata.com/prevent-...-attacks-2018/, like backing up data regularly and using email protection.

    Anti-virus software

    Hi,

Norton Antivirus rocks! It keeps my computer safe from all kinds of nasty stuff like viruses and ransomware. The interface is super easy to use, even if you're not a tech wizard. Plus, it updates often to stay on top of new threats. Definitely my go-to for keeping my digital life secure!
