    hi,
    I went to ... C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
and opened the hosts file in a notebook format
I posted in a new instruction

I closed the file and hit save
a notice came up ... you dont have permission to change this file
get permission off the administrator !

is there any way I can get this file to close and save the changes ?
thanks for any comments or advice

Make sure that you are logged in to a user account that has Administrator rights, then use one of the methods from the link below to edit and save the changes. Note: Copy the file to a backup file name and location first, in case of problems.

Add your user account to the Security settings for the file with full rights, and/or open Notepad by right-clicking and selecting Run as Administrator to edit the file.
