MP4 will not render
What ho one and all,
I have a number of mp4 films on my desktop computer which I transfer to a USB thumbdrive to plug into our 'entertainment' computer which has a 36" TV as the monitor.
One such film, which plays on my desktop, give the message 'Cannot render file' on the entertainmnet machine. I have deleted and copied again, but still the same result with either MPC-HC or VLC. but still it plays on my desktop.
So I have tried with another thumbdrive and this has no problems. May e the thumbdrive, which is 516gb with only 100gb used.
More as a point of interest, what is likely to be the problem?
Thanks and toodle pip

If they run properly from one USB drive and not the other I would try reformatting the problematic one and see if that makes a difference. Do other types of files run/open on the questionable drive? Have you tried using different USB slots on the computer and not using any kind of USB extension cable?
Note that reformatting would erase all data currently on the drive.
