Create separate database file for each email address in Thunderbird

I have multiple email addresses that I use for various functions. I would like to be able to use Mozilla Thunderbird to retrieve emails for these addresses, however, I would like to be able to keep the emails for each address in a separate database. I do not want to collect all of the emails together into one database. If anyone knows how to set up Thunderbird to do this, links or instructions would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Each email address already does have it's own separate folder (see pic) how much more separation were you wanting?

Have you had a look in Thunderbird's addon collection?

I suppose another option, unwieldy as it would be, would be to use separate instances of the portable version for each email address. Each instance of my Thunderbird install uses between 250 and 300 megs of ram when running so 4 instances would use a full gig.

    Thanks, fink.

I know that I can set up separate folders, however, that is not what I am wanting. I would like to keep the emails in completely separate databases, each with their own set of folders. After doing some additional searching, it looks like I might be able to get this capability if I use separate Thunderbird profiles. I will have to do some additional research and hen some experimenting to see if I can get this working.

I try to avoid add-ons, since they are likely to break when updates are applied.

The PROFILE Options seems to be what you're looking for.

"Thunderbird saves personal information such as messages, passwords and user preferences in a set of files called a "profile", which is stored in a separate location from the Thunderbird program files."
