Google Assistant keeps popping up when I lock screen

    Phone: moto g power (2021)
    Android version = 11

It happens about 90% of the time when I go to lock my phone that a pop up on the bottom of the screen appears. It seems to be something related to "Google Assistant". It usually says something like "Try saying blah blah blah" with the Google logo on the screen. It only shows at the bottom of the screen and takes up about 1/4 of the screen. This started happening around 8 days ago or so.

I have Googled this and tried a few things but can't seem to find something that stops this from happening.

    Anyone with ideas please?

Also, is this forum "Notification" working now when you get a reply to a thread you start. I know this was an issue a while back; just curious so I know if I have to keep checking for replies.

    Thanks!!

I think we may need some additional information in order to figure this out.

Post the full text of what Google Assistant is showing. The "blah blah blah" part may be important.

Also, does this happen when you try to lock the phone, but BEFORE is actually locks?

Does the phone lock? Do you need to do something to get rid of the Google Assistant before you can lock the phone?

Details, details, details. Your post should look like a Russian novel - long, boring, and full of tragedy.

On the Notifications, I would not count on them to be working properly. The Admins have been looking into the issue, but I am not sure whether everything is fixed yet. Please let us know of you do get a notification.

The option to just disable the "hey google" part of the program is half way down this page... assuming you don't use it of course.

As far as I have seen notifications are still not working.

VirtualDr email notices are not working.
    Check back regularly for responses.

I made no changes since I last posted. I did not make changes because I was able to grab a screenshot of the message that pops up. The message is at the bottom in white and this is how it appears each time. But not every time I go to lock the phone.

Yes, I can lock the phone after this message appears. It may not say the same thing each time but it looks exactly like this screenshot each time.

    I hope this helps.

Also, I am not receiving notifications of replies to my post so I guess it is still not working - Boo Whooo

That is a site issue. It's broken for everyone.

Yes, I am aware of this. I was just wondering if it had been solved yet. Apparently not. No big deal. I just have to make it a point to come back to check for responses.

    JDC2000- thanks for the links.

Been busy hence the time delay in my response. Sorry!! Also being 67 yo, bad eye sight and having ADHD and the doctor took me off the only med that helped me because of my blood pressure it is so much harder to read and then follow instructions as I was trying to do with the links. Also having a house full of not only me, my housemate and now his daughter, his two dogs, her dog and my two cats, her two turtles and bunny rabbit (we have a zoo here) and this being a 1,000 square foot home creates such distractions that it is almost impossible for me to follow directions. If it is not 2:30am when it is nice and quiet in the house - forget it - I just can't concentrate - oups - rambling - sorry!! Would read up on the links, start to follow directions get distracted, lose track of where I was, walk away due to frustration and try again two days later - urgh!!

Meantime: Today I had a bit of quiet time and read up on the links.
Most of what it says is how to shut off Google Assistant from listening while the phone is locked. My problem is that (as my post in #4) the suggestion for Google Assistant pops up when I go to lock the phone and not after the phone has been locked. So reading through the instructions on the links I have to first go into Google Assistant by saying "Hello Google" or "OK Google" and then go from there. Crap!! with the phone unlocked it won't respond to either of these commands. The links also say to press the "Home" button on my phone. I have no idea where the home button is so I did a google search on "where is my home button on my Motorola phone" Still can't find the home button. One of the instructions showed what button to press on the screen that pops up when I go to lock the phone (same screen that I showed the screenshot of) and believe it or not I tried locking my phone as I normally do and after about 15 times the darn Google Assistant pop up won't appear and I did not change any settings. I got the screen popup this morning, about 2 hours ago when I went to lock the phone and about 20 times yesterday almost every time I went to lock my phone which is an automatic because of people being in the house and I can't get the darn thing when locking the phone the way I normally do to pop up now. REALLY!!?? So out of frustration now I went into settings and anything that seemed to have to do with Google Assistant I shut or disabled that setting. All 4,326 settings/changes - a bit of an exaggeration but this is crazy. I guess I just have to live with it. thanks for your attempted help.
Thanks for trying to help me. I am just going to live with it.

"Short Version" I give up!! Thanks for trying to help.

    Update:
Now that I was successful in turning off Google Assistant it is driving me nuts again each time I go to lock the phone. Now it is showing this darn message

    Now I really give up.

Google really does not want you turning off Google Assistant. However, the following links mught be useful:

    https://support.google.com/assistant...ssistant?hl=en

    https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-perma...urn-it-back-on

You could also change the activation command from OK, Google to something that you never say.

Or, remove Google as the default assistant:
