Computer not starting - sometimes
What ho one and all,
My wife has an HP Pavilion 23 all-in-one computer with W8.1.
Sometimes, when pressing the power button on top, although the cursor appears, the screen remains blank. Can always hear the HDD spinning quietly in the background.
Usually, by tweaking the power cord and/or holding the power button down for a few seconds, then trying again, it starts.
I realise it is almost impossible to give a solution, but what is the most likely cause? Faulty switch or a start-up capacitor needs replacing?
Thanks and toodle pip

Holding the power button down for a few seconds -> every time to start it is what I would do.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Possible causes:
Faulty power cord
Faulty power cord socket
Faulty power button
Faulty AC adapter
Swapping out the AC adapter and power cord with a known good setup could let you test those possibilities.

The loose connection or damaged cable between the display and the motherboard is the most likely reason for the problem with the HP Pavilion 23 all-in-one computer. Additionally, there can be an issue with the graphics card or driver. To see whether it fixes the problem, think about verifying the connections and updating the graphics driver.
