Multiple copies of the same thing are always running in the back ground.
Ok. I tend to run the task manager often to see what is actually running on laptop and I have noticed a trend. Several programs are running what appear to be multiple copies of themselves.
for expample
Avast Antivirus has 5 copies running in the background.
Microsoft edge has 6 copies
Runtime broker has 5 copies
Those are the ones with the most copies running. I have a bunch more that appear to be running two to four copies each
Is there a way to stop these multiple copies off??
I am running the following on a Lenovo Laptop
Processor AMD FX-8800P Radeon R7, 12 Compute Cores 4C+8G 2.10 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (6.96 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Edition Windows 10 Home
Version 21H2
Installed on 22-Nov-20
OS build 19044.2604
thanks,
Tony

That is normal. Many programs run similar/identical looking processes. There's no way to turn them off without shutting down the programs. You can eliminate some of the browser processes by using fewer tabs.
Don't believe everything you think.
VirtualDr email notices are not working.

As fink mentioned, that is normal these days. Most software engineers believe that you have a supercomputer with a 28 core Xeon and 4 TB of RAM, so compact and lightweight software is not a design consideration.
