    Flicker screens with Dell Monitor

I have my monitor currently connected to my PC using an HDMI cable. I have been getting flickering screens. They only last a few seconds. Today it happened again. I got this message for the first time.

    Dell 27 Monitor
The current input timing is not supported by this display. Please change your input timing to 3840x2160, 60Hz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specifications
After that message, I went into the display adapter settings and changed the refresh rate to 60. So far I haven't gotten any other messages like that but the flickering is still happening. When the monitor flickers during the few seconds it happens, the power light indicator on the monitor is solid white. The screen goes black.

I have no idea what it could be or if my PC is supported by this monitor. I haven't tried it on another PC yet. Any suggestions to try are much appreciated.

Try it on another PC. That monitor does seem to have issues when used with a Mac. You already checked the refresh rate.

It could be a bad backlight, or a cheap cable also, or video drivers.

Unplug the cable at both ends and re-plug in. And or try another cable if you have one.

I unplugged the cable at both ends and re-plugged them in, which seems to have fixed the problem. I have been using it most of the day without any flickering.

I still had flickering issues with the monitor so I purchased a premium high-speed certified HDMI cable for 4k.

Hopefully, the new HDMI cable fixes the problem.

Using contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol on the computer and monitor ports wouldn't hurt either.

Was the old on in a spot where it could have gotten damaged? Too much sun - pet chewing on it - desk drawer pinching it etc etc???

The old HDMI cable did not look damaged. I guess it could be a faulty cable maybe. I had the cable in a plastic box with a bunch of other cables that I never used. I don't know how long I had it. It still had those plastic pieces on the ends when I took it out of the box. No sun or pet chewing on it. My computer desk doesn't have any drawers either.
