Very Slow
C:\ drive is an SSD but it takes over a minute for the machine to boot. Save As results in 'Working on it' and I will have completely finished this message before Speccy gets me a summary.
Something isn't right! The machine has decent specs, there are no viruses, plenty of headroom on C:\, I can't think of anything that might be causing the slowdown. Where do you start, anyone got any ideas?
CPU
Intel Core i9 9900K @ 3.60GHz 36 °C
Coffee Lake 14nm Technology
RAM
32.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1069MHz (15-15-15-36)
Motherboard
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING (LGA1151)
Thanks - rev

What is the make/model of the SSD? Do you have any other drives connected (SATA, USB, etc)?
Did you check Task Manager and Event Viewer for problems?

Kinston M1 - goes in the slot on the mobo
>Do you have any other drives connected (SATA, USB, etc)?
Oh yes! 6 disks of varying size are attached now (because I'm making images) but normally it's only 5.
>Did you check Task Manager and Event Viewer for problems?
Yes, and there are thousands of errors but they're all either Service Control Manager (can't find file) or Distributed COM (did not get a response from DCOM in the timeout period)
I ran a report using WhySoSlow and it claimed that everything's running perfectly, above spec and no problems found.

5 or 6 other drives? If there's a problem with just one of the drives, that could slow down the whole system.
I've also seen issues with 100% disk use in Windows 10. Check the Disk % in Task Manager.

By the look of it, I have one of the problem Kingstons:
Kingston SSD: SAA400S37960G
Windows 10 v1903, Build 18362.30
Checking TM but I have to admit I don't understand much in there.

Ah, that's an older build of Win10.
I thought you said the SSD was in a MB slot? The Kingston A400 is a 2.5" SATA SSD.
You could try disconnecting the other drives one at a time and see if that helps.
As for Task Manager, click on the Performance tab. See if anything is at a high %

Thanks for all that. I just realized I have an Intel SSD in another slot that's not being used so I already have a solution.
