[RESOLVED] Older toshiba Satallit withe 4 black dots

Thes dot'd are about a half dollar in size on the screen and straight from bios. I tried a bios update to no avail. I can post pics if needed but any input would be helpful. It just started and I made no changes. Also if I updated the bios, that would mean that is back to zero.

Ideas?

What happens if you try to boot directly to the BIOS? If you can does it show any data like the make/size of the
hard drive? Which operating system is on the laptop? Does it have a working CD/DVD drive you could boot from? The model no could be helpful as well.

same thing even after the update of the bios and resetting the settings

A pic might be a little helpful for searching similar problems. Pls answer the other questions as well so we can have more of an idea about the laptop.

So, does the computer boot and run OK? That was not clear from the posts so far. Note that I cannot access that image file from a work computer, so I will have to check it later today after work. If the computer boots and runs OK, but just has the black dots or spots, what happens if you connect an external monitor? Do the dots show on the external monitor also?

And you get the same black spots, in the same locations on the Windows desktop?

That is either a monitor or a video adapter issue. To rule out the video adapter, connect an external monitor to the computer and mirror the display. If you see the same black spots on the external monitor, you have a video adapter issue. If the external display does not have the black spots, it is likely a laptop screen issue.

That would tend to indicate the laptop display panel as the culprit. Do the black spots always remain in the same places on the screen, or do they move around? If they are always in the same places, that would just about cinch it that the screen display is to blame, and would need to be replaced to fix the issue. That might be somewhat difficult for a Toshiba laptop, and might cost more than it is worth. The laptop could still be usable with an external monitor, but that would take away its portability capabilities.

I most likely have one around and yes they stay in the same place every time. I just despise pulling apart toshibas.
