USB Card Upgrade
I have been reading about USB.
https://www.partitionwizard.com/part...sb-speeds.html
https://www.partitionwizard.com/imag...b-speeds-1.png
Currently, my MOB supports up to USB 3 GEN 1 which is 5 Gbps.
I am thinking about getting this card.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B097TDK5M3
Will this card work correctly if insert into my PCI Express 2.0 x16?
Can you also confirm that the USB 3 GEN 2 (10 Gbps) is faster than SATA III (6 Gbps)?
Is it possible to get a card that is USB GEN 2x2 (20 Gbps) or USB 4 (40Gbps)? But is this really necessary since a SSD average speed is about 550 MB/s?
Last, is all USB above speed of 10 Gbps use USB Type C interface?
Originally wanted Millenium Falcon as nick but there is character limitation.
Falcon Speed = Millenium Falcon = Light Speed

USB 3.2 Gen 2 is CAPABLE of faster speeds, but it depends on the devices connected to it.
If you're using a SATA SSD, then getting a USB 3.2 Gen 2 card wouldn't make much difference. You'd need an NVME based SSD. Something like this:

There aren't many USB4 devices available right now, so it's not practical right now.

Yes.

That card that I have provided above only goes up to 10 Gbps per port although it has a total 20 Gbps bandwidth.

This means this card is still below the speed of the SSD (that you have provided) since it has speed of 2000MB/s. Would that be a correct assessment?

Also, will this card work at its maximum performance if I stick it into the PCI Express 2.0 x16 or will it need PCI Express 3.0? Any thoughts?
Thanks

In order to meet the speed of the drive that you have provided, I would need to buy this card if I am correct?

Oh, I misread it. It's not a 2x2 card. It has 2 type A ports and 3 type C ports. It's a bit misleading at a glance.
The Startech card you posted about is a 2x2 card.
PCI Express 2.0 x16 is capable of 8GB/s.
What are you trying to do exactly? If you don't have any 2x2 drives, you don't need to buy a Gen2 2x2 card.

I had time on my hand and was just researching whether to add a card in and delay building another desktop for a while.
Also, just wanted to get to the bottom of things on learning about the USB generations and how the cards work with PCI Express which you cleared up my questions.
Thanks for the follow-up MidKnyte. Really appreciate you.
