Resolved [RESOLVED] How to scan using a Canon MX492 printer

Google searches yield nothing but links to scanning software which I strongly doubt is needed. The Canon instruction manual sends me to some bizarre site that tells me the manual is installed, but which offers no means of accessing that manual. All I want to do is put a document on the platen of the printer and scan it into a document which can be saved on the computer. Can anyone tell me how to do that?

I think the there is a Canon scanning utility that is part of the printer installation suite, but the Windows 11 menu system is so abstruse that I cannot find it. It's not in Control Panel, although other printer services are there.

NO CAN DO... It's a PRINTER.

    You need a SCANNER.

Or you need a Multi Function (all in one printer)

I used to go to the Fed Ex retail store and use their large multi function printer that would scan to disk or scan and email.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

If that really is a multifunction device, which is hard to determine from Canon's web site, the following links might be useful:

Thanks jdc2000, that second link led me to a manual in downloadable pdf format, which I was able to obtain and read.
It does have the instructions I needed. Thanks for the help.

    Turn the printer ON.
Place the item you want to scan on the glass surface. To scan multiple documents, use the ADF (Auto Document Feeder). ...
    Start the IJ Scan Utility.
Select Auto to start the scan or Cancel if you need to stop it.
