[RESOLVED] External USB DVD Burner
When I plug in mu DVD burner to my laptop I hear a connecting sound and the light on the DVD comes on for a moment. But the drive is not seen in Device Manager or in Explorer. I have read where it says delete drivers and install new driver for the dvd in device Mgr, but I cant do this because It is not seen in device mgr. When I push the button on the drive the tray does open and the light comes on.
Any suggestions
Thanks

Have you tried inserting a disc while it's plugged in? Or tried it in another computer?

Yes I have done both, with the same results.
I have used this drive before with the same usb cables and it worked then, that was probably about an year ago

Try cleaning the USB connectors on the cable with a Qtip and alcohol in case it's something simple like a corroded connector. Also try a different cable. Sounds like the drive itself is the issue since it isn't working properly with more than one computer.
When you insert a disc can you hear/feel it spin up?
