[RESOLVED] Win8.1 Pro, profile error, and no tiles.
I am having an issue with Win8.1 Pro. It is fully installed and activated, this recent error seems to be after an update. I have no "tiles" showing in the start menu, I can't right click on certain items, Internet Explorer and other programs are missing. Most things seem to work ok in "safe boot" mode, but not in regular boot-up, including a constant "profile error" message, which I have never had before. Any ideas? Thank you.

Post a screen capture of the "profile error".
Internet Explorer is probably not removed, just the icon for it.
Check the folder below for iexplore.exe and if found, create a shortcut for it on the desktop:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer
To restore the real IE icon, try the following link:

It is possible that a corrupt user profile is causing all of the errors you are seeing. What happens if you create a new user and then log in to that new user's profile?

RESOLVED! I decided to create a new profile, and can copy any necessary data/files. Thank you for the advice.
