Mismatch Memory Modules
If I upgrade laptop memory with mismatch modules, would this work or should be avoided? I read from other forums, they said it will be fine but it will run at the slowest speed of the two modules.
For example, the laptop comes with two 8 GB modules. Instead of wasting all of it, can I buy a 32 GB module and use it with the other 8 GB module?

According to the specs, it should have RAM onboard and isn't upgradable. I see configurations with 8 or 16GB.

16 GB (Non-removable)
Maximum

After your post, I did a bit of research. This guy said it is upgrade able but it could be a different model. https://youtu.be/iiaeK1GHAls?t=388
While on BestBuy forums, someone answered it cannot not be upgraded. It is not the exact same model as from Costco but very closed.

BestBuy: 17Z95P-K.AAB8U1
Costco: 17Z95P-K.AAE8U1
Just strange that a laptop's RAM cannot be upgraded. That is the first time I have seen that.

Unfortunately, you are right and so lucky that you pointed that out. I downloaded the "User Guide" and on page 65:
System Memory LPDDR4x Onboard Memory
Memory of 3 GB or more is supported only in a 64-bit O/S.
Memory size may differ depending on the model. The user must not
arbitrarily replace or add the memory
https://www.lg.com/us/support/manual...7Z95P-K.AAE8U1
That is so crazy. I thought that all Laptops RAM can be upgraded, especially for this brand.

MidKnyte, can I get your thoughts on the RAM upgrade of the Lenovo Legion Model 82JF002RUS. Can RAM be upgraded?
Overall, which laptop would you choose between the LG Gram and the Lenovo Legion 5? Both are at Costco but LG Gram is on sale for $500 off which is about $1100. The Lenovo Legion 5 is about $1299 and is not on sale.
The one thing I do not like about the LG Gram is that it is slim and therefore has no ethernet port while the Lenovo Legion has an ethernet port. LG Gram, I would have to buy a docking station for it.

I can't find the 82JF002RUS listed on Crucial.com, but it seems to be a Lenovo Legion 5 series laptop. If this is the right series, it says 2 SODIMM slots.

It depends on what you want to do.
The Lenovo 82JF002RUS has more powerful CPU and GPU.

The LG Gram is lighter (3lbs vs 5lbs).

The main thing is the resolution which both are the same.
Then next is the upgradeable RAM because I use virtualization a lot and I have many programs running at once. This alone probably will be the Lenovo Legion.
The weight is not going to matter to me.

The Lenovo CPU has 8 CPU cores vs. the LG's 4 cores. More cores would be better if you run virtual machines.
